Surrounded by open water, an unexpected pod of orcas along the way, and evergreen shorelines, this sunset celebration featured a deeply personal ceremony led by our ordained deckhand, a celebratory champagne toast, and dinner at San Juan Island Brewery.

Framed by the wild, unpredictable magic of the islands I've called home since I was a kid, the flora, fauna, & coastal scenery of the Salish Sea are a deeply personal homecoming. Documenting this living, breathing ecosystem anchors me to everything I love and shapes my entire worldview—whether I'm taking in the rich greenery, watching a pod of Orcas breach against the mountain backdrop, spotting Steller Sea Lions hauled out on sun-warmed rocks, or listening to sea birds wheeling overhead from the deck of Hewes Your Daddy.
Meet the Founders
Raised on the shores of Whidbey Island, I spent my youth navigating the Salish Sea from the deck of my family’s 14-foot Lund. That early immersion in the local waterways evolved into a lifelong commitment to ocean stewardship. With a professional background as a first responder, I hold a profound appreciation for the preciousness of life—a perspective that fuels both my creative work and my sustainable lifestyle.
Since earning my Captain’s License in 2023, I have dedicated myself to safely navigating our coastal channels and blending a deep love for the local Salish waters with intimate, adventurous, documentary-style photography. Operating from our family vessel, Hewes Your Daddy—a 21-foot red and grey hardtop Hewescraft—we venture into the San Juan Islands, the heart of the Salish Sea, to capture authentic, untamed moments framed by fragmented marine layer light, rocky shorelines, towering ancient evergreens, and the moving waters of the tides below.
Alongside my husband, Sean, I am raising my children, Murphy and Salish, to be the next generation of seafarers. Through photography and storytelling, I aim to inspire a deeper connection to our wildlife, advocating for conscious ways to honor the natural world. Whether we’re savoring unforgettable wildlife views, chasing golden-hour glow across the sound, or celebrating a once-in-a-lifetime landmark moment on the water, every experience is crafted to feel effortless, grounded, and rooted in the beauty of the place we call home.
My work is an invitation to the coast—a tribute to a beauty that must be experienced in person to be fully understood. From the deck of my own HewesCraft to the lens of my camera, my life's work remains anchored in honoring the waters that raised me.
